Tribulus – An Easy Way to Boost your Libido

Tribulus has always been used in traditional medicine as a stimulant for both men and women and as a substance that can increase the power of the body, vitality and stamina. Plants and drugs that affect the sexual power, especially in men, are guaranteed fame and immortality. Take Viagra for example. This drug has become more sociological, psychological and media phenomenon than pharmacological and scientific phenomenon. Before Viagra hit the market, whole series of drugs and other substances were tested in order to maintain a hard erection and fertility of men – from some bizarre ingredients such as rhino horn, dry penises obtained from hyenas and sea horses to the illegal plants with strong opiate-like properties. Some people have even tried some pseudo-magical rituals so it is no surprise that modern medicine and pharmacy looked at these plants that affect sexual power with a high level of suspicion. It was really difficult for some plants to be presented as really helpful plants in the field of sex. One of these plants was Tribulus, it enhance the libido.

Tribulus (Tribulus Terrestris) also known as bullhead, devil’s thorn and tackweed, is actually a weed, which is very common in the Mediterranean, but today this weed can be found almost everywhere in the world. The fruit of this plant is very distinctive and it looks like prickly pigeon’s egg and those who have vivid imagination can imagine this fruit as a little prickly testicle. After centuries of experience and modern clinical trials, several healing plants were classified in a separate class in which Tribulus belongs too.

Yohimbe (Pausinystalia johimbe) is considered to be the oldest “Viagra” which was once discreetly issued by pharmacists. They were selling extracts of this herb. This extract can be found even today in drugs related to erectile dysfunction problems because it acts quickly, unlike most other plants. Besides tribulus, another plant that has a cult status and which affects the erectile dysfunction is the so-called maca (Lepidium meyenii). The Chinese species Epimedium grandflorium is another similar plant. Epimedium is also known as horny goat weed which is a term that is self-explanatory. It didn’t take much before scientists connected the effects of this weed to the increased sexual desire in goats. There are few other extracts and parts of plants which are usually used in modern sex pill dedicated to stop erectile dysfunction and infertility. The most popular ones are the so-called adaptogenic herbs – the well known true ginseng and Siberian ginseng, which generally act as stimulants for the entire body and they reduce the feeling of fatigue which is one of the main reasons for problems in modern relationships and sexual life.

Tribestan is an herbal product which contains dry extract of Tribulus terrestris L. Bulgaricum. The active ingredients of Tribulus contain saponins with a dominant amount of protodioscin. Numerous pharmacological, pharmacokinetic and clinical studies have confirmed the effectiveness of protodioscin, while also confirming that this herbal sexual enhancer has a safe pharmacological profile without known side effects, so it is no surprise why these pills are so popular around the globe.
